Who We Are

At Kernow Academy, we believe gymnastics is about more than skills and routines — it's about building confidence, character, and a lifelong love for achievement.

We combine high-level coaching with genuine care and encouragement, creating an environment where every child feels supported, inspired, and proud of their progress.

Our focus is not only on developing talented gymnasts, but helping every athlete grow into confident, resilient individuals both inside and outside the gym.

Our Story

Established in 2014, Kernow Academy began with a vision to create a welcoming, ambitious, and community-driven gymnastics club where every child could thrive.

Over the years, we have built a strong reputation within the local community, providing opportunities for gymnasts of all ages and abilities to grow in confidence, develop their skills, and achieve success both in and out of the gym.

As a proud non-profit club, our focus has always been on supporting our athletes, families, and community through passion, dedication, and high-quality coaching. Throughout our journey, we have celebrated achievements across both Artistic and Acrobatic Gymnastics, producing gymnasts who have gone on to win Regional, National, and International medals.

Our journey has not been without challenges. In 2016, tragedy struck when our facility was destroyed by fire. Despite this devastating setback, the strength of our community — coaches, families, and athletes — allowed us to rebuild stronger than ever. Through determination and resilience, the club continued to grow, overcoming relocation and rebuilding challenges while maintaining the high standards and positive culture that define Kernow Academy today.

Now, with exciting new plans for the future, Kernow Academy continues to look ahead with ambition, committed to inspiring the next generation of gymnasts and creating opportunities for every athlete to achieve their full potential.

Our Values

At Kernow Academy, we are committed to creating a positive, inspiring environment where every gymnast is encouraged to grow in confidence, ability, and character.

Our ethos is built around delivering high-quality coaching and training to the highest standards, helping every child reach their full potential both inside and outside the gym.

We believe that expert coaching, dedication, perseverance, and self-belief are the foundations of success. Every gymnast's journey is unique, and we are passionate about supporting each individual every step of the way.

Our aim is to establish Kernow Academy as a leading gymnastics club recognised for excellence, opportunity, inclusivity, and a strong community spirit.

Our Coaches

All coaches at Kernow Academy are fully qualified through British Gymnastics and are committed to maintaining the highest standards of coaching, professionalism, and athlete welfare.

Our coaching team regularly undertakes safeguarding and child protection training and holds enhanced DBS clearance, ensuring a safe, supportive, and positive environment for every gymnast.

At Kernow Academy, we pride ourselves on creating a culture where athletes feel encouraged, respected, and inspired to achieve their very best.

Fundraising Team

The Kernow Academy Fundraising Team is made up of dedicated parents and supporters of Kernow Academy gymnasts who work together to help create opportunities for our athletes.

The purpose of the team is to raise funds that provide financial support for gymnasts involved in competitions, training opportunities, events, and athlete development throughout the club.

Operating on a non-profit basis, the fundraising team functions separately from the main club finances, with its own independently managed bank account overseen by nominated members. The team is responsible for organising fundraising initiatives and deciding how raised funds are allocated to best support the gymnasts and wider club community.

Through the continued support of families, local businesses, and the community, the fundraising team plays an important role in helping Kernow Academy athletes pursue their goals and reach their full potential.

If you would like to be involved, please contact Rachel at [email protected].

Sponsorship

At Kernow Academy, we are always looking to build strong partnerships with local businesses and sponsors who are passionate about supporting the development of children and young people through sport.

As a community-focused non-profit club, sponsorship plays a vital role in helping us continue to provide high-quality coaching, opportunities, equipment, and experiences for our gymnasts.

By supporting Kernow Academy, sponsors are directly investing in the growth, confidence, wellbeing, and success of young athletes within our community. Your support helps us continue developing gymnasts at all levels — from recreational participation to Regional, National, and International competition pathways.

We are proud to work alongside businesses and organisations that share our values of ambition, resilience, inclusivity, and community spirit, and we are always keen to discuss exciting sponsorship opportunities and partnerships for the future.
